About Brian

Brian K. Andrews. M. Photog., CPP, Craftsman has studied at Winona School of Professional Photography and New York Institute of Photography, as well as attending Purdue University. In 1992 he was named a Certified Professional Photographer by Professional Photographers of America. He is among the elite few who have earned the PP of A "Q" Quality rating specializing in weddings. He has also received his MPP Degree of Photographic Fellowship and PPI and MPP Degree of Service Fellowship

Brian has received a number of photographic awards. Among them PPI and MPP Court of Gold, PPI and MPP Silver Awards, William Latimer Memorial Award, Bill Stockwell Memorial Award, Fuji Masterpiece Award, Kurt Lieber Memorial Award, MPP Wedding Photographer of the Year, PPI and MPP Highest Scoring Wedding Print, MPP Highest Total Score, MPP President's Award, MPP and PPI Highest Scoring Wedding Album, PPA Merit Award, PPA Loan Collection and Kodak Gallery Award. His wedding albums at PPA international competitions have all received a PPA Merit Award. He is one of only five photographers in the state of Indiana to have a PPA Loan Album in album competition.

Brian is a member of Professional Photographers of Indiana and Daguerre Club of Indiana (a select group of Indiana photographer whose membership is by invitation only). Brian was the 1999 President of the Michiana Professional Photographers . He was the 2005 President of the Professional Photographers of Indiana and 2008 President of the Daguerre Club of Indiana. Professional Photographers of Indiana presented him with the PPA National Award and MPP presented him with the Gerhard H. Bakker Award.

About Marilyn

His wife, Marilyn, also a member of Professional Photographers of Indiana, has earned her PPA Craftsman of Photography Degree. She has received the Michiana Professional Photographers ZIP Award, Professional Photographers of Indiana Member of the Year, and the Professional Photographers of Indiana have presented her with the PPA National Award.

Our Family

They are the proud parents of Sgt. Kyle Andrews, currently stationed at Cherry Point Marine Air Base in North Carolina. He lives in New Bern, NC with his wife, Rachel. Rachel is originally from Pennsylvania. They have two cats (Kitty and Odren) as well as two miniature dachshunds, (Buster and Dougie).

Our Menagerie

For several years children and adults have been fascinated with the frog tank in the studio. Over the years they have hosted Leopard Frogs, Fire Belly toads, and most recently Whites from Austrailia. In 2009, Brian and Marilyn adopted a cat, Mr. Ginger when Brian’s mother died. In the fall of 2009 he acquired a playmate, Maggie. She is also a miniature dachshund. Maggie frequently spends time at the studio. She enjoys playing with studio guests, especially children.

Studio Facilities

Our studio is located at 202 South Second Street. It is the corner of Second and Jefferson Streets, downtown Decatur, Indiana. This building has housed a portrait studio for well over 120 years. In 1987 they removed the old north light window, used for lighting before the days of strobe lighting.

In the 90’s they also purchased the adjacent building and installed a larger camera room, dressing room, public restroom and storage. The new camera room offers space for multiple sets and backgrounds, as well as greenscreen to offer thousands of digital background options. This makes it possible for high school seniors to “lock” a background for their senior year, insuring no one else will have a background like theirs.

Over the years they have created a large private outdoor studio area, including a stocked pond, barn and floral display. This area is used for children’s portraiture, high school seniors, and large groups.

Studio office hours are:

Tuesdays – 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 to

5:00 pm

Saturdays – 9:00 am to 12:00 noon by appointment.

Sessions and consultations may be booked outside office hours.
